Vivia Lawson: Private Thoughts in Public Places
Alamosa, CO, is the most recent site for artist Vivia Lawson to paint on location. She will be painting in the lobby of San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center (SLVRMC) every Monday and Tuesday through April.
She likes to work in public places, having first done so at Denver’s International Airport for about two weeks last fall. “Somewhere in that process, I made the connection with hospitals as a public space,” she said. “I feel like what I do has a part in healing.”
Vivia’s work is driven by her interest in relationships and community building. “Making art is one access point into our humanity. When you integrate creativity into essential services, there’s a better connection for everyone.”
Her latest work can be seen at Den Gallery, May 18 through June 17, with an opening reception on May 18. Also, view her work at insightartconnection.com.
Artist lectures will be scheduled in Denver; contact katherine@insightartconnection.com for more information.
