Artworks by Kathy Park are on view through November at San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center. Park’s artwork celebrates the experience of living in a body. Each piece is an inner self-portrait expressing a wide range of emotions, attitudes and gestures.

Park believes that, “embodiment is crucial to our times. The modern world’s disembodiment leads to a denial of the body, a destructive arrogance and dishonoring of the Earth. Embodiment, on the other hand, helps us be fully alive and conscious on the Earth, living with purpose, grace, peace and respect for the sacredness of all life. I intend my strong sensual figures to inspire us to listen to and rejoice in the wisdom of our bodies.” Her work may be seen in the Sculpture, Watercolor, and Works on Paper Galleries at InsightArtConnection.com.

SLVRMC created the ARTrium in the south wing of the hospital as part of their mission to provide quality, compassionate care in a quiet and healing space. Through Insight Art Connection, the hospital works with local artists throughout the Valley to reflect the culture and life of the San Luis Valley and remind patients, visitors and staff of the creativity and beauty all around them. With exhibitions, community receptions, and children’s art displays, the ARTrium program is designed to enrich the relationship between healthcare and the community.
